Stranger Things is one of the most popular TV shows on Netflix. It follows the story of a young boy, Will Byers, who after being missing for three days returns home to find that his family has been replaced by strange creatures. He soon uncovers a dark secret involving these monsters and an ancient government organization known as Hawkins Lab.

As per the given essay topic, it can be safely assumed that many Metallica fans are also fans of Netflix’s Stranger Things. And while there are certainly some striking similarities- chief among them the rampant use of heavy metal instruments in tandem with period-appropriate visuals- there are also some notable differences. For one, Stranger Things is better written.

The hooks are better placed, the beats are more consistent, and the humour is often clever. Secondly, Metallica’s music doesn’t always fit the scenes. In fact, sometimes it distracts from the suspense and terror the show is trying to evoke.

However, in spite of these missteps, there’s no denying that Metallica does deliver when it comes to powerful guitar solos and epic drumming. And even though the sound quality may not be perfect, it’s still a clearly audible force. Parts of “The Unforgiven” are legitimately spine-tingling, both in terms of the music and the visuals.

The downside, however, is that the lyrics can be dreary and uninspired. Songs like “Another One Bites the Dust” are forgettable and often feel repetitive. That being said, there are also a few truly regrettable lyrics, such as the “Down in the Abyss” rant that gets played at the end of the show. In the end, though, it’s hard to say anything bad about a track like “Enter Sandman.” It’s a bona fide classic.

While there are some clear parallels and some clear differences between Metallica and Stranger Things, there’s no denying that the former delivers a powerful performance when it comes to music and visuals. While the lyrics may not always be riveting or well-crafted, the power of the music is undeniable. In the end, Metallica fans should definitely check out Stranger Things.
