Founding Member of Bon Jovi, Alec John Such Died at 70 has died While He Was 70 Years Old

Jon Bon Jovi on Sunday announced the death of New Jersey rock band bassist Jon Such, from 1983 to 1994. Details about when and how John Thatch died were not immediately available. A Bon Jovi spokeswoman did not immediately respond to a message.

“He was the original,” Bon Jovi posted on Twitter. “As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was an integral part of the band’s formation.”

Bon Jovi acknowledged that Jon Ace formed the band and said that he was a childhood friend of drummer Tico Torres and took guitarist and songwriter Richie Sambora to play the band. John Thatch starred in the band Message with Sambora.

Born in New York, John Thatch was a veteran of the New Jersey music scene and contributed to the birth of Bon Jovi. As manager of the Hunkabunka Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ, John Thatch booked Jon Bon Jovi and The Wild Ones before joining the band of singer-songwriters. He played with Bon Jovi during the group’s heyday in the 80s.

John Thatch left the band in 1994 to replace bassist Hugh MacDonald. He later rejoined the band which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

“When Jon Bon Jovi called me and asked me to join his band several years ago, I immediately realized how serious he was and he told us. I had the desire to have him,” said Jon Thatch. Said, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame. “And I’m very happy to be a part of that vision.”

As a young man, singer-songwriter Jon Bon Jovi felt an urge to form a rock band. In the mid-1970s, he introduced his friends to creating one of their own. The band they formed was named Bon Jovi- and now the world knows them as one of the biggest rock bands ever. When they formed, bassist Alec John (born in 1953) was only 17 years old. In fact, he was so young that he didn’t even have his high school diploma yet. He had graduated from grade school at 15 and then attended high school for 2 years. During their early days, Bon Jovi played at local clubs and bars. They released their first album in 1984 and are now considered legends by many people.

Academic Career of Alec John

Alec John graduated from high school in New Jersey in 1977 and was accepted to several colleges. He ultimately chose Rutgers University, where he studied art for 2 years. After that, he transferred to the Manhattan School of Art and graduated with a Fine Arts degree in 1981. While attending college, John also played bass guitar in a cover band that played songs by The Beatles, Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix. He also worked part-time as a graphic designer while pursuing his art degree. After graduating from college with a BA in Fine Arts, Alec decided to pursue his dream of being a professional musician.

Professional Career of Alec John

John had several artistic talents, but his passion was music. He met fellow bassist Raul Rinzler (born in 1961) while they were students at Art School. They started playing together and became friends with vocalist Dave Purosky (born in 1964). When Bon Jovi formed, Alec became their bassist and vocalist. He has been with them for over 30 years now- which is pretty amazing! In that time, Bon Jova’s popularity has skyrocketed both domestically and internationally. Their new album, Sunset Shades, debuted at #1 on the US iTunes download chart 6 days after its release date. It also debuted at #1 on the Australian iTunes charts the same day it came out locally. Each member of the band has their own musical talents, but no one does it better than Alec John!

When Bon Jovi formed, Alec became their bassist and vocals- which has made him one of the most popular rock musicians of all time! As a young man, he joined Jon Bon Jovi’s band as their bassist and vocalist- which helped launch his career into stardom.

When Alec was living in New York City with his family and still plays with Bon Jovi every now and then. He is an excellent bassist who knows how to harmonize with his bandmates on stage as well as in the studio.
